During my 10 weeks at Stanford, I observed in the emergency department and worked in close coordination with the trauma team. Four days were spent with the paramedics visiting the sites of trauma and transferring patients to the emergency department. I got an opportunity to fly with the life flight nurses in the helicopter. It involved both scene calls and interfacility transfers. I was certified in ATLS, ACLS & PALS. There was also a 2-day hands on workshop in the use of F.A.S.T. scans in the emergency department for trauma. With the residents, I attended the core curriculum lectures. I also received training in modern presentation skills like advanced PowerPoint & Website designing and the use of Endnote software.
As a result of my training in Stanford university Medical Centre, I was able to conduct a workshop on intraosseous access for children in shock at the National Conference for Emergency Medicine (EMCON 2003) at Pune from 1-3 November 2003.
